What is Rearrange PDF Pages?

Reorder the pages of a PDF by dragging thumbnails into the order you want, delete the pages you do not need, or reverse the whole document in one click. Nothing is committed until you save, and nothing is uploaded.

Three jobs in one pass

Reordering, deleting and reversing are usually three separate tools, and the work usually needs all three at once. A scanned bundle arrives with the pages out of sequence, two blank sheets the feeder picked up, and the whole thing back to front because it went through the scanner upside down.

Here you do all of it in the same grid before saving anything. Drag a thumbnail to move it. Click the bin icon on a page to drop it. Reverse Order flips the entire document. Then save once, and you get a single clean file rather than three round trips through three tools.

Deleting is reversible until you save

A detail that matters more than it sounds, because deleting pages is where this kind of task goes wrong.

Clicking the bin does not remove the page. It marks it — the thumbnail fades to show it is going, and clicking again brings it straight back. Nothing leaves the document until you run the tool.

So you can work through a long scan marking the blanks and the duplicates, see the whole set of decisions laid out in front of you, and change your mind about any of them. Compare that with a tool where each delete is immediate: one wrong click and you are re-uploading the original and starting again.

The numbers under the thumbnails are the new numbers

Each card is labelled with the position it will occupy in the finished document, not the page it came from. Move a page and every label updates.

That sounds small and it removes most of the confusion from this job. You are not tracking "page 7 is now third" in your head — the grid reads 1, 2, 3, 4 in order, always, and shows you the document as it will come out. When the numbering under the thumbnails matches the order you want, you are done.

Select several pages and move them together

Click a thumbnail to select it — the border changes colour — and click more to build a selection. Then Move to Front sends all of them to the beginning at once, in the order they were in.

This is the operation that saves real time on a long document. A report where the six appendix pages are scattered through the middle and all need to go to the back. A bundle where the signed pages need to lead. Dragging six thumbnails one at a time through forty cards is tedious and error-prone; selecting them and moving them as a group is one action. Select All and Deselect All are there for working through a big set.

Nothing is re-rendered

The pages are copied into a new document in your chosen order. They are not redrawn, rasterised or re-compressed.

So text stays selectable and searchable, scanned images keep their original quality with no second round of JPEG compression, and the file size stays roughly where it started. Deleted pages simply are not copied across, which is why removing pages makes the file smaller by exactly the amount those pages took up.

What can break, and why

Worth knowing before you reorganise something structured.

Because a new document is assembled, anything that pointed at a page rather than living on a page may not survive the move. Bookmarks and the outline panel, and internal links — a table of contents where the entries jump to sections, or a cross-reference saying "see page 14" — are the two to watch.

This is not really a flaw in the tool so much as what reordering means: a link to page 14 is ambiguous once page 14 is somewhere else. For a scan, an invoice bundle or a set of photographs there is nothing to lose. For a long structured report with a linked contents page, check those links in the output, and expect to rebuild the bookmarks if the document has them.

Two smaller notes. The thumbnails are rendered small and quickly, so they are for recognising pages rather than reading them — open the document alongside if you need to check content before deciding. And Reverse Order applies to the whole document; to reverse only part of it, drag those pages instead.

Nothing leaves your browser

The work happens on your own device. Given what usually needs reorganising — scanned contracts, invoice bundles, application packs, medical records, anything that came off an office scanner in the wrong order — not uploading it is worth more than the convenience it costs. No page limit, no file size cap and no daily quota either, because there is no server doing the work.

Related tools

Split PDF pulls pages out into a new file, and because it keeps the order you type it can reorder at the same time. Rotate PDF fixes pages that are sideways rather than out of order. Merge PDF combines separate PDFs into one, which is often the step before this.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I delete pages as well as reorder them?

Yes, and deleting is reversible until you save. Clicking the bin icon marks a page — the thumbnail fades — and clicking again brings it back. Nothing leaves the document until you run the tool, so you can mark up a long scan and change your mind about any of it.

What do the numbers under the thumbnails mean?

The position each page will occupy in the finished document, not the page it came from. Move a page and every label updates, so the grid always reads 1, 2, 3 in order and shows the document as it will come out. When the numbering matches what you want, you are done.

How do I move several pages at once?

Click each thumbnail to select it, then use Move to Front to send them all to the beginning together, keeping their relative order. That is the operation that saves time on a long document — dragging six thumbnails through forty cards one at a time is where mistakes happen.

Does reordering reduce the quality of my PDF?

No. The pages are copied into a new document rather than redrawn, so text stays selectable, scanned images keep their original quality with no second round of compression, and the file size stays roughly where it started.

Will my bookmarks and internal links still work?

They may not. A new document is assembled, so anything pointing at a page rather than living on a page — the outline panel, a linked table of contents, a cross-reference to page 14 — can break once the pages move. That is inherent to reordering. Check them in the output for a long structured report; for a scan there is nothing to lose.

Is there a page limit?

No, and no file size cap or daily quota. The work happens on your own device rather than on a server, which also means the document is never uploaded — worth having for the scans and bundles this is usually used on.
